Wrath and steel, piety and vengeance. A blackened throne, forged with lies and betrayal. The Fire waning inexorably, burning for no one. The journey's end.
Oh wow it really came down to the wire on that last roll! I liked the writing a lot for the boss battle, very epic and tied everything together really well. Given Alina's actions so far, I think she would jump in the fire, but I'm not sure. I'm glad you left it open ended, it was a nice touch. This was an interesting system, I'm not sure I know enough about the Souls-like Vibe to make a narrative pop like this one, but the game play loop did look fun. Looking forward to the next system/story!
Thank you very much, Solum! I'm glad you liked the ending. I decided on it early on, and I don't know which one she'd actually pick. I'm tempted to agree with you.
See you in the next one! And in Lost Herald, of course :D
Its my honest reaction to reading this entry, especially the first bit prior to the final encounter with the King in Cinders. So evocative.
I have seen some of Mundos Infinitos' games but never taken the time to read them. I already want to pick up Hollow Hike soon, so perhaps you'll inspire me to get Burning Fortress as well.

This might be one of the most well written, evocative pieces of fiction I've read in a long while. Excellent work.
I'm sad to see the story end, but very much enjoyed seeing Aliana gain the victory over Cain. Do you have plans for your next series?
Eric, you're too kind. Thanks a lot for that!
That's also how I feel when I finish a piece of writing. Happy to wrap it, but sad to let go of the story and characters.
I have quite a few games I want to try. I think the next one is going to be Burning Fortress, a samurai mini TTRPG from Mundos Infinitos: https://mundosinfinitos.itch.io/burning-fortress
Memories from the Lost Horizon is also a possibility: https://mundosinfinitos.itch.io/memories-from-the-lost-horizon
Mundos have a lot of simple, rules-light TTRPGs not unlike Hollow Hike. I love their style.
